You cannot carry someone through life - they must be able to stand on their own two feet before you can fully take your relationship to any of the next levels.
Life is not that serious though situations within it can be - a team effort rather then a tug-of-war between one (holding the hand of the other) and the situation works bests to resolve the matter at hand.
Consider this a 'Lesson of The Heart' - value your growth and constantly keep your head held high.
